Toe River Valley
The Toe River Valley is one of the finest destinations North Carolina has to offer. We’re certain you will be enamored with it just as
we were and are. Located among the highest peaks on the East Coast, the valleys were settled and populated, with Asheville springing up to the south and Boone to the north. But the Toe River Valley remains a widely undiscovered gem of the Blue Ridge Parkway, with roughly 2/3 of its land being State and National forests. We are a pleasant 45 minute drive from all the amenities of the big cities; the restaurants, orchestras, shopping malls, sirens, and bells and lights. And oh how wonderful it is to be 45 minutes away! Enjoy a hike to a waterfall, or go gem mining, read a book or have a quiet dinner. We offer cool breezes in the summer, glorious colors in the fall, and don’t forget the blooming season in May and June. All four seasons come free of charge.
Craftsman Homes & Realty would like to give you an introduction to Little Switzerland, North Carolina…
Located at mile marker 333 on the Blue Ridge Parkway, the village of Little Switzerland is marking its centennial, when 3 hikers stumbled upon the vast and beautiful vistas which reminded them of the Swiss Alps. Remarkably, we are still mostly an undiscovered gem, with some of the highest peaks on the east coast.
Little Switzerland is a scenic, leisurely hour’s drive from the cities of Asheville, Blowing Rock, and Linville. We can not boast of the dozens and dozens of restaurants, shopping malls, strip malls, divided highways, and traffic lights these other destinations can offer. In fact, we do not offer a single traffic light. We can offer a wonderous blooming season in the spring, cool summer breezes that can be a 10 to 20 degree drop in temperature when driving up from places such as Charlotte or Raleigh, and then there is of course the fall color season.
The easy pace and quality of living in a Mountain Setting like Little Switzerland or Spruce Pine in The Toe River Valley can be just the change people are searching for when looking at a weekend getaway location. Just a brief, single portrait or our area can be seen in this example: A woman was sitting at the closing table in her attorney’s office, she was regrettably selling her home in Little Switzerland. She had to call the builder from whom she purchased the home four years prior to ask him for a set of keys. In four years she’d never locked her home, and had spent two months per year in Florida . She had never thought of locking her house and had lost the keys over the years.
Another major consideration is the value and resale price of real estate in the Toe River Valley. Prices of both homes and land are demonstratively lower when compared to areas such as Asheville, Blowing Rock, and Linville. We are in the Toe River Valley, the valley which is yet undiscovered, and largely undeveloped with large amounts of state and national forest. As the corners and sidestreets and highways of the other valleys continue to fill to bursting, one can only anticipate development will come this way. It has no other direction to go.
Those of us who are aware of this area, the allure of its views and elevations, its convenient location to the Blue Ridge Parkway, will be here ahead of the crowds. And there will certainly be opportunities when word of this undiscovered gem gets out…
